Overview

Qualified personnel are knowledgeable and efficiently perform all duties and responsibilities of a Production Specialist I. Individual is proactive in addressing different challenges and willing to adapt, based on the business needs. Individual understands tasks and/or duties may change based on business needs and training purposes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

1. Production:

a. Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

b. Monitor application of humidification water.

c. Monitor all aspects of prime line packaging, bundle marking, and take steps to resolve any irregularities while insuring maximum run time.

d. Optimize material usage and notify operator of line needs to do so.

e. Assist with booth and line clean ups in a safe and efficient manner.

f. Dump dumpsters and hoppers safely and clean up any spills.

g. Assure proper stacking of skins at outfeed and remove marked reject skins as needed.

h. Assist operator to monitor all operations and parameters of the rip saw and take steps to resolve any irregularities while insuring maximum run time.

i. Perform saw blade changes in a safe and efficient manner.

j. Fill in during break times, vacation, or as needed during production.

k. Assure that assigned areas stay clean and free of clutter at all times.

l. Assure proper relief before departing - Overtime may be required.

2. Quality:

a. Participate in SQDCI.

b. Ensure proper labeling of finished door skin loads.

c. Perform, interpret, and act on assigned quality tests/data.

d. Remove any press line marked rejects from production.

e. Understand, associate, and apply packaging specifications to operational decisions.

f. Understand, associate, and apply line parameters and grading specifications, and sizing specifications to operational decisions.

g. Know quality specifications and customer needs for your area.

3. Housekeeping:

a. Perform system clean-up tasks as required.

b. Maintain housekeeping throughout entire facility, paying special attention to assigned area

c. Maintain housekeeping along prime line, paint kitchen, and humidification deck

d. Maintain housekeeping under/around saws, and shuttle carts.

e. Assure that all tools, brooms, air lines are returned to their designated areas after use.

f. Perform outside clean-up, mowing, and landscaping as required.

4. Communications:

a. Communicate with on coming and off going personnel to ensure continuity between shifts.

b. Communicate with operator and assistant operator throughout the shift regarding skin quality and process conditions.

c. Communicate effectively with management regarding issues, adjustments, and changes that have taken place. Notify them of supply issues, maintenance needs, hazards, and accidents/injuries.

d. Maintain complete and accurate written and/or electronic records and data.

5. Maintenance:

a. Be familiar with components, sub-systems, support systems, and terminology of the equipment.

b. Make rounds as directed, be watchful for worn or malfunctioning equipment, and notify maintenance and management.

c. Perform/assist in maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.

6. General:

a. Know and understand all safety procedures.

b. Will be required to learn and understand all roles within this department level, Will not be assigned to one task and/or duty - duties will change with business needs and training purposes.

c. Operate a forklift and other equipment as necessary.

d. Abide by all company policies and procedures.

e. Maintain required tools for use on the job.

f. Be knowledgeable of production line in your area.

g. Perform all other duties assigned by management.

Safety Analysis

Safe Work Practices: Wear hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe footwear at all times. Stay aware of the job at hand and be alert for slippery floors. Keep work area clean and free of debris. Long hair must be tied back above collar. Loose clothing is not allowed on plant floor including but not limited to: Dangling Pant Legs, Neck Ties, Long or Dangling Belts, and Hooded Sweatshirts. No jewelry is allowed including but not limited to: Rings, Watches, and Necklaces. Use proper lifting techniques. Watch for forklift traffic. Maintain three points of contact and use caution when climbing stairs and ladders. Only use an approved low-pressure device to remove fiber and sawdust from clothing. Lockout/Tagout all sources before working on equipment. Avoid contact with hot steam pipes. Comply with all safety training including but not limited to: Do not operate any equipment or tools that have missing guards or safety devices, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Ergonomics, Forklift, PPE, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety and Blood-borne Pathogen Prevention. Discuss all non-routine tasks with your manager prior to start.
