JOB SUMMARY
The Inspection Technician will be responsible for completion of scheduled inspection of fixed equipment including tanks, pressure vessels, sumps and piping at various Petro Star, North Pacific Fuels and Sourdough facilities. This is a full-time position based in North Pole and will involve travel to facilities in Kodiak, Dutch harbor, Anchorage and Valdez.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Internal and external inspection of atmospheric storage tanks in accordance with API 653 and/or STI SP001.
  • Monthly underground storage tank inspection at various Fairbanks locations.
  • Annual refinery turnaround support at the North Pole and Valdez refineries.
  • Routine equipment inspections, including visual and ultrasonic thickness surveys.
  • Ensures all inspections are planned and performed correctly and meet the applicable code, jurisdictional and/or company requirements.
  • Write accurate and complete reports summarizing the results of inspections completed.
  • Facilities QA/QC program support.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 3 (3) years inspection experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Current API-653 Tank Inspector certification; MFL and UT Level II certifications preferred. Must be able to obtain STI SP001 and UST A/B/C operator certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of basic corrosion codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of NDE techniques, i.e. radiography, ultrasonic, dye penetrant, sensitive leak testing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Exhibits good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Current API-570 Piping Inspector, API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspector, AWS CWI, additional NDE certifications held for PT/MT are highly preferred.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Word and Excel and familiarity with PCMS database and AutoCAD.
  • Possess good technical writing and communication skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
