Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Transportation Dispatcher in Baltimore, Maryland. The Transportation Dispatcherposition is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of assigned Logistics drivers in a manner that promotes the highest possible customer satisfaction, achieves business objectives and fosters high employee morale, teamwork and development. The Transportation Dispatcher will ensure on-time and reliable pick-up and delivery of equipment. Seeking candidates with strong logistical background and transportation experience. College degree a plus.

Requirements for theTransportation Dispatcher position include:

  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulation compliance.
  • Working knowledge of delivery area.
  • Department, division and corporate teamwork promoted to ensure customers' needs and requests are met consistently.
  • Excellentcommunication and follow-up skills to ensure internal and external customers are well informed.
  • Must be detail-oriented,able to solve problems and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with computers; Windows applications, internet, industry specific software, and knowledge of DSI system.

  • Must be able to handle large volumes of work in fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to work shifts needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for theTransportation Dispatcher job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 10 pounds in weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
