The Opportunity

We are looking for an energetic, collaborative team member. The role partners closely with members of the leadership team across Odyssey s portfolio and G&A to provide financial direction and enable delivery against short-term and long-term goals of an international development stage biotech company located in Boston, MA. As an integral member of the finance department you will report to the SVP, Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the financial planning process (including annual budget, quarterly forecasting and long-range plan), partnering with the executive committee to provide insight and direction, to develop key scenarios, improve forecast accuracy, and to identify key risks/opportunities
  • Partner with accounting team during the monthly/quarterly accounting close process for expenses and accruals, including flux analysis and compliance with internal controls
  • Build analytics and transparent reporting to drive forecast accuracy and report any variances to plan. Provide full transparency on any judgments about risks and opportunities for both operating and capital expenses
  • Develop and maintain departmental and monthly portfolio financial reporting and analysis packages; lead the consolidated monthly and quarterly financial review presentations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders, collaborate with a diverse set of cross-functional teams by providing strong customer service, delivering actionable strategic insights, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Work closely with other members of the Finance department to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication, sharing of best practices, and efficient processes.

About You

  • Bachelor s degree in finance required; MBA preferred
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical company with an understanding of the drug discovery and development process required; small molecule experience preferred
  • 5-8 years of relevant job experience with increasing responsibility.
  • NetSuite experience preferred, not required
  • Strong analytical skill and ability to work with large amounts of data with an ability to create ad hoc reports or analytics
  • Expertise with Excel and strong PowerPoint skills; experience with Hyperion, Adaptive, or another multidimensional database a plus
  • Ability to solve problems and think creatively - capacity to provide pragmatic solutions and have the drive and leadership to implement ideas through to successful conclusion
  • Strong business acumen, judgment and professionalism required. Intellectual curiosity drives a deep understanding of business issues
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues, within or outside of finance, in sharing insights and learnings
  • Ability to lead and drive change in a developing business environment, coordinating processes involving large numbers of people, complex systems, and tight deadlines
  • Must be able to work well with senior leaders, peers, and junior team members across the organization
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset with the flexibility to adapt to change
  • Strong time management and planning skills required to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changes in business requirements
