The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Research Coordinator in the Brain and Metabolism Imaging in Chronic Disease Laboratory.

The Research Coordinator will oversee and participate in medical, clinical and interventional research studies as per established protocols and institutional policies and procedures. They will organize and coordinate the screening, consenting, and scheduling aspects of research studies; ensure effective participant interactions and communication, especially via telephone calls.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of clinical trial studies, data management, study visit preparation and coordination, participant consenting, study status communication; study visits, and collaborate with program managers, other coordinators, nurses, dietitians, Principal Investigator, and ancillary departments.
  • Organize and monitor the provision of research procedures to ensure the accurate and timely collection of subject/participant data.
  • Monitors daily schedule making adjustments as needed; maintains record of attendance, no show and rescheduling of participants.
  • Works with lab manager, student schedulers, and clinic staff in scheduling of participant study visits.
Required Qualifications *As part of a career progression group, this vacancy may be filled from this recruitment as a Research Specialist 1 or 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Research Specialist 1
  • Bachelor's degree in health-related field.
  • 0 - 2 yeas of related experience.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Research Specialist 2
  • Bachelor's degree in health-related field
  • 3 - 5 years of related experience.
  • All additional qualifications as listed above.
