Field Service Technician - Mechanical (Turbomachinery)


Job Details

The Mechanical Field Service Technician will be responsible for supervising and performing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of centrifugal compressors and related auxiliary systems. The candidate must ensure high standards of quality and safety, be familiar with technical documentation, and be proficient in using electronic tools for reporting and documentation.


Key Responsibilities:


Installation Supervision:

  • Supervise all installation activities of centrifugal compressors and auxiliary systems.
  • Support civil works for laying baseplates and other skids.
  • Lay and align machines, install hubs and couplings, and reinstall JB and TB bearings.
  • Install and calibrate DGS (Dry Gas Seals) systems in collaboration with FSE E&I (Field Service Engineer, Electrical and Instrumentation) and I&C (Instrumentation and Control) teams.
  • Lay and level auxiliary skids for oil, process gas treatment, vessels, etc.
  • Install, flush, and blow all auxiliary piping, and perform hydro and pneumatic tests.
  • Ensure proper connection of process gas piping to compressors.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform and supervise the troubleshooting and maintenance of various types of centrifugal compressors and auxiliary systems.
  • Disassemble machines and replace components such as hubs, bearings, DGS seals, oil seals, internal seals, flanges, casings, and rotors.
  • Record clearances data and reassemble machines according to design specifications.
  • Inspect and set compressor process gas valves mechanically.
  • Prepare and verify spare parts for installation.
  • Conduct boroscope inspections.
  • Assist control engineers with unit restarts.
  • Manage Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for issues.

Quality and Safety:

  • Maintain high standards of quality (QA/QC) and safety (EHS) in all tasks.
  • Manage Non-Conformities, Technical Clarifications, and Service Requests.
  • Follow up on materials preservation activities.
  • Assist client inspectors during mechanical checkouts.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Familiarize with and utilize technical documentation, including layouts, P&I (Piping and Instrumentation) diagrams, specifications, and sketches.
  • Compile detailed reports of activities and use electronic tools such as EDM (Electronic Document Management), TCE (Teamcenter Engineering), and Fieldworks.

Client Interaction:

  • Assist client inspectors during mechanical checkouts.
  • Address and manage any non-conformities, technical clarifications, and service requests in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of centrifugal compressors and related auxiliary systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and alignment techniques.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation and ability to compile detailed reports.
  • Proficient in using electronic tools such as EDM, TCE, and Fieldworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
