Job Title Graphic Design - Adjunct Professor Health & Welfare Benefits Not Applicable THIS IS A TEMPORARY , HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS .

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.

Adjunct professors teach one or more graphic design courses that include the fundamentals of graphic design, print design, vector design and illustration, typography, web design, advanced image compositing, UI/UX design, corporate identity and branding, motion graphics, portfolio. Minimum Required Qualifications A. The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution:

1. Any Bachelors degree and two (2) full-time equivalent years of professional experience directly related to the faculty members teaching assignment; **OR**

2. Any Associates degree and six (6) full-time equivalent years of professional experience directly related to the faculty members teaching assignment; **OR** 3. The equivalent (if requesting an equivalency, please answer the supplemental questions included in the application); **OR** 4. California Community College credential, Valid for Life (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline; refer to Ed Code 87355. (If meeting qualifications with this credential, a copy of the valid lifetime credential must be submitted with the application.)

**AND**

B. Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students. Preferred Qualifications 1. Communicate effectively to students orally and in writing.

2. MFA in Graphic Design or Visual Communications from a regionally accredited institution.

3. Professional experience working as a graphic designer, senior graphic designer, art director, or creative director.

4. Strong understanding of the principles and elements of design.

5. Strong understanding of the creative process and process work.

6. Professional, contemporary portfolio.

7. Creative, energetic, and great communicator.

8. Expertise in one or more of the following (relevant to courses taught): Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premier Pro, Dreamweaver, Procreate, HTML , CSS , JavaScript, and social media marketing.

9. Experience designing and illustrating using iPads and Apple Pencils.

10. Experience teaching post-secondary level commercial art courses.

11. Online (asynchronous) teaching experience. License(s) & Other Requirements Major Duties & Responsibilities The Adjunct Professor of Graphic Design will:

1. Be assigned classes they are qualified for. Most applicants will not be qualified to teach all the courses in the program.

2. Teach one ore more of the following courses:

* ARTC 100 Fundamentals of Graphic Design

* ARTC 120 Print Design and Advertising

* ARTC 140 Vector Design and Illustration

* ARTC 160 Typography

* ARTC 200 Web Design

* ARTC 210 Corporate Identity and Branding

* ARTC 220 Creative Design and Compositing

* ARTC 230 Web Design II

* ARTC 272 Motion Graphics, Compositing and Visual Effects

* ARTC 290 Portfolio

Equivalencies Candidates not holding the stated required qualifications who are requesting consideration based on an equivalency will need to answer the equivalency questions included in the application.
