Position Summary:
Provides support to all upper-level toolmakers and works with direct supervision from them. Will be tasked with many of the basic machining functions in the preliminary execution of various machining projects. Must be a highly motivated team player willing to accept direction from all team members. The ability to communicate and interact with engineering, manufacturing, and quality is a prerequisite. Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts. Knowledge of CNC programming and machining is a must. Knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures are also essential.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Assist all tool room team members in a support function.
*Assist prototype personnel as requested.
*Math Ability in both geometry and trigonometry.
*Able to use various precision measuring instruments including micrometers, indicators, and both optical and physical gaging.
*Reads and understands most blueprint detail.
*Able to determine fabrication process/sequence with minimal assistance.
*Check part dimensions with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
*Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints.
*Typically works in a 2D environment to tolerances of +/- .001.
*Can fabricate simple jigs and fixtures to complete assigned jobs with supervision.
*Must show the ability and willingness to keep a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Education and/or Experience:
*3-5 years of machining experience.
*AAS in Machine Tool or vocational training, or equivalent experience a plus.
*Equivalent experience is described as: Benchwork, Milling, Turning, Grinding, Basic Machine Programming, Cad / Cam, Metrology, Quality Control, Fixture Design and Fabrication, EDM, Heat treatment, and Occupational Health and Safety.

Working Conditions:
*Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
