Maintenance Planner


Job Details

Plans and coordinates the resources to accomplish equipment repairs, construction activity support, and all work performed by NTP maintenance staff, including requisitioning of parts. Provides lead technical support and analysis for Metro s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Coordinates planned maintenance work between NTP Maintenance, NTP Operations, RWHTF Maintenance, Engineering, and external groups such as consultants and contractors. Works under the supervision of the NTP Director. May supervise work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance personnel. Typical Duties: Develops a detailed plan of action and procedures, bill of materials, list of tools and permits, to coordinate the repair of all identified work to be completed by all NTP maintenance trades in close collaboration with the NTP Operations division. Determines estimated times to complete the assignment of work, and coordinates with other divisions/departments/project managers the schedule of assigned work. Uses CMMS to plan work for NTP maintenance crews (electrical, mechanical, and facilities). Performs CMMS systems administration duties and coordinates its use and training with the EAM Administrator and NTP staff. Collaborates with NTP Operations, NTP Maintenance trades, Procurement, and administrative groups to purchase equipment and parts needed for routine and non-routine tasks and Maintenance projects. Evaluates parts and Requests and stock at the NTP and/or RWHTF Warehouses per NTP and Procurement protocol through completing stock sheets, submitting Purchase Requests, and performing other associated workflows to procure and stock needed materials for the NTP Maintenance division. Reviews, develops, and recommends changes to preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and lubrication programs. Coordinates with RWHTF Maintenance team with regards to Predictive Maintenance and reliability programs/workflows. Conducts equipment evaluations, performs cost/benefit analyses, and makes recommendations for improvement and/or replacements. Coordinates equipment removal and installation with contractors and other Metro departments during work on new installations and modifications to existing Metro facilities. May be required onsite during nights/weekends/holidays as needed during process shutdowns/startups, project commissioning/decommissioning activities, and other operational events, planned and unplanned. Recommends and performs or facilitates updates, changes, and establishment of blueprints, schematics, and equipment O&M manuals, filing and/or publishing all pertinent documents using appropriate data platforms and established protocol. Performs supervisory duties on an as-needed basis. Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of: Water/Wastewater treatment plant or similar industrial facility processes which operate under state/federal regulations, safety practices, and limit or prevent equipment downtime Standard mechanical and electrical terminology and practices Supervision methods, processes and procedures Warehouse and procurement procedures Industrial safety procedures and practices General office processes and procedures Skilled at: Electrical and/or mechanical maintenance of wastewater treatment or similar industrial equipment Effectively planning, organizing, coordinating and monitoring work using a computerized maintenance management system Identifying and prioritizing multiple projects and performing work with a focus on improving processes Analyzing and troubleshooting operational and equipment data to provide recommendations and solutions Organizing work/schedules, project management, and efficient time management Leveraging diverse modes of communication to optimize the effective exchange of ideas and information Utilizing technology to seek and share resources and information Active and empathic listening, and strong interpersonal skills Managing disagreements, de-escalating conflict and negotiating win-win solutions MS Office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to: Perform administration duties in CMMS systems Effectively communicate verbally and in writing present complex situations in a concise manner Perform effectively in a collaborative cross-functional team environment Efficiently modify schedules and plans in response to sudden shifts in priority and urgency Think and act strategically in an organizational Big Picture context Identify problems, craft effective solutions, act decisively and demonstrate good judgement Education Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Working Conditions: Work Environment While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. The employee is exposed to work in high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock less than 1/3 of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to set, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and up to 50 pounds less than 1/3 of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
