Job Description:

Position Summary:

Creates, stocks, and designs custom floral bouquets and arrangements for customer purchase. Knowledgeable about plant variety as well as how to care for, cut and feed flowers and plants for maximum life. Provides product knowledge including scent, size and shapes that provide a pleasing design. Stocks and rotates items on display while keeping aisles neat and orderly. Performs duties that comply with the Company's safety standards and local health code procedures and standards.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Provide advice and suggestions for flower selection.
  • Work with a wide range of foliage and flowers.
  • Understand art, style and use of color and shapes.
  • Sustain a high level of product knowledge and products.
  • Fill special orders for holidays and other occasions.
  • Create original designs.
  • Keep flowers watered and fresh.
  • Work toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensure accurate pricing by placing the corresponding price labels on each package.
  • Uphold Metcalfe's culture, customer service, and performance expectations.
  • Upholds, supports, and promotes all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Here's what you'll need:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Six months previous floral design experience preferred.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel.
  • Knowledge of technology, the use of a computer.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and Memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
  • written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Florist Certification highly preferred.
  • Required to work weekends and holidays based on department staffing requirements.


Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The associate is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and may bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures) and is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
