RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, facilitate, and execute delivery of Community Health and Intergenerational program curriculum
  • Assist with nutrition and cooking education to community members at the BronxWorks Farm Stand
  • Provide workshops for Older Adults and Youth program
  • Support youth interns with program preparation
  • Workshop facilitation
  • Cooking demonstrations
  • Program enrollment and outreach
  • Follow food safety guidelines
  • Engage with community members during nutrition and cooking education
  • Works closely with youth interns, Program Coordinators
  • Complete program documentation
  • Perform program outreach
  • Data entry
  • Communication with other BronxWorks programs and staff
  • Work closely with Program Coordinator, Activity Specialist, and program staff to meet program targets
  • Assist with program set up and break down
  • Provide Program Coordinator with weekly reports
  • Assume responsibilities of program assistant when necessary
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience working at farmers' market or farm stand preferred
  • Able to assist with enforcing market regulations to shoppers including social distancing, limiting conversations, and customer traffic flow.
  • Able to walk and stand for several hours at a time.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, e.g. heat, cold, rain, sun, wind, snow.
  • Proficiency in English required
  • Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, and copier equipment required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Provide Program Coordinator with weekly reports
  • Able to assist with enforcing market regulations to shoppers including social distancing, limiting conversations, and customer traffic flow.
  • Bilingual Preferred


PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure Farm Stand nutrition education and cooking demonstrations follow Stellar Farmer's Market curriculum
  • Manage preparation and facilitation practice for weekly nutrition education and cooking demonstrations
  • Coordinate with BronxWorks Community Health Programs to place weekly orders with vendors
  • Follow Farm Stand rules and regulations
  • Set up and break down the Farm Stand tents, equipment, and signage
  • Serve as a Farm Stand host to welcome and engage shoppers, promoting good relations between vendors, as a representative of BronxWorks
  • Assist shoppers with use of benefit payments and nutrition programs (SNAP, FMNP, Health Bucks)
  • Engage with shoppers and nutrition education participants to report successes, concerns and opportunities to connect to programming
  • Promote the Farm Stand within the community
  • Respond in a timely manner to communications from the office
  • Perform other duties as needed also


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
