Job Details

The HEDIS Pharmacy Technician is an active member of the HEDIS department and works closely with other team members and management. The HEDIS Pharmacy Technician will assist with quality measures related to medications and disease states including diabetes and dyslipidemia. The HEDIS Pharmacy Technician will report to the management team of the HEDIS department and will take on active roles related to patient and provider outreach.


This is not your typical retail pharmacy role it's an exciting opportunity to work in an office setting that involves member communication, coordination of care, and improving medication-related quality measures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Will be an integral member, responsible for supporting and enhancing the HEDIS department, areas of involvement will include, but not limited to, medication reconciliations for the identified populations, medication adherence for the identified populations, health education policies and support for at-risk diabetic members.
  • Assists with improving the management and care of patients with multiple chronic disease/conditions. This includes, but not limited to, member outreach to determine barriers, provide member assistance directly or work with other departments to address and overcome patient barriers, and contact providers to coordinate care, as needed
  • Assists in collecting medication lists from internal databases, contacting patients to schedule telephonic appointments with pharmacist for comprehensive medication review, conducting patients reminder calls for refills and/or preventative screenings, outreaching to providers and pharmacies and coordinating care for patients
  • Works closely with Clinical Pharmacist, Project Manager, and other staff to identify and provide outreach to high-priority patients
  • Conducts medical record review to determine compliance with HEDIS and inputs into internal database compliant information
  • Prepares and maintains records and files which are neat, organized, thorough and readily accessed
  • Completes assignments within specified timelines and reports project progress to designated person
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a professional manner and follows through on commitments
  • Written and verbal communication and transmission of information is clear, concise and is in proper business and grammatical format
  • Protects and maintains confidentiality and privacy of all member information, including adherence to strict protocols for HIPAA
  • Supports the company s vision, mission, values, goals, and policies
  • All other duties as directed by management


Education and Experience:

  • Current CA Pharmacy Technician license
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year of pharmacy experience, preferred in a managed healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of PBM industry, formulary management, pharmacy claims and managed care principles and practices preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Proficient understanding of common pharmacy electronic databases and the ability to type >40 WPM
  • Ability to work in a multi-task, fast moving environment, is flexible and adapts well to change
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)


The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $23 - $25 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.


The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
