Set Up Technician


Job Details

JOB PURPOSE

This position is responsible for the setup, changeover, and fixture maintenance of various machine tools including 3 and 4-axis milling machines and lathes. Setup technicians provide support for production and the manufacturing process department by troubleshooting, making adjustments as necessary, and maintaining compliance to the quality standard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform machine tool setups and changeovers with minimal supervision in accordance with procedure dictated by process department.
  • Maintain any applicable fixturing and tooling.
  • Calibrate spindle probes and tool setters on a monthly basis.
  • Interface regularly with quality department to address quality concerns as well as aid in the FAI process after a changeover.
  • Actively participate in root cause analysis on manufacturing issues.
  • Monitor and manage tool life. Change cutting tools, collets, and holders while recording relevant data.
  • Read and interpret blueprints efficiently.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of standard work instruction, including training operators on established standards.
  • Communicate with production and management to relay status of equipment and/or processes.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • 2 Years CNC operating and troubleshooting experience.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Expect to work within a climate control facility with mid to high noise levels. Working conditions and hours may vary based on production and business needs, including working regular shifts as outlined and/or occasional weekends, or overtime, if needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Team members are constantly standing, walking, carrying, climbing, pulling/pushing, bending, seeing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, hearing, as well as handing paperwork. Team members will be lifting/maneuvering objects weighing 50 lbs. or less regularly. Cleaning material and chemicals are used regularly.
