Job Description Pricing Manager

Role Summary/Purpose

In this role, the pricing manager will play a key role in the implementation of the company s pricing strategy, policy & processes with the expectations of delivering sustainable improvements in margin performance and increased market share. The manager will assist in collecting, maintaining and analyzing data regarding our internal & external customers, products, prices, costs, margins and markets to support the business s pricing strategy. The manager will also work with the sales, marketing and service teams, providing costs analysis, sales data, price files, competitive information and daily pricing support for customer orders, projects and promotional sales offerings.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain best-in-class list price-setting procedures and data.
  • Assist in the reduction of un-priced items and negative margins in the ERP system
  • Validates sales quotations for accuracy and profitability
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales and Product Management on gathering and understanding competitive intelligence and win/loss insights related to pricing.
  • Support strategic pricing analysis to assist in the development and implementation market price guidelines
  • Monitor and maintain discount and margin performance by product, region and customer
  • Maintain data and tools used to develop pricing actions or options in support of the sales, service and marketing teams
  • Enhance margin analysis tools and recommend changes to the ERP system to improve efficiency, accuracy of our data
  • Analyze market, financial and sales information and recommend changes to pricing as required
  • Interface with sales & marketing personnel to ensure product pricing data is consistent with sales or promotional literature
  • Establish pricing and margin metrics and recommend pricing actions or identify opportunities and correct any defects or errors
  • Identifies opportunities to optimize sales and profitability through pricing strategies
  • Supports the sales, marketing and service teams in developing proposals

In addition, you will:

  • Support analysis of costs and profitability by customer segment and product / transaction type
  • Assist in creating and maintaining pricing dashboards, and maintaining the data
  • Implement KPIs for the regional sales team to support improved pricing strategy and develop KPIs to measure product line price performance
  • Develop capabilities to understand customer segmentation, competitive position and target value propositions to develop the company s pricing strategy
  • Support price training sessions to educate Sales, Product Managers and other key functions on different pricing methodologies Work with leadership teams to identify alternative revenue models and opportunities

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college or university or (High School Diploma/GED) with 5 years of pricing experience with a focus on developing and implementing price strategies & tools
  • Minimum 5-7 years of pricing experience with a focus on developing and implementing price strategies & tools

  • Bachelor s Degree in Finance, Marketing or Business Administration. Equivalent work experience will be considered without degree.
  • Proven data analysis experience and a solid grasp of pricing models & techniques
  • Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision
  • Commercial mindset and ability to work effectively with product management, sales and marketing organizations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to quickly establish a vision, and the tenacity to drive them through to completion with minimal supervision
