The Secondary Markets Manager partners with senior leadership and collaborates with the residential team to define and implement capital markets strategies that incorporate product pricing, pipeline management, best execution analysis, interest rate risk management, hedging, and delivery methods. Manage the Residential Mortgage pricing and the execution of the mortgage pipeline to meet margin targets and optimize income from sale of the loans.


1. Manage Secondary Market Operations: Oversee the entire process of selling residential mortgage loans on the secondary market, including loan pricing, investor relations, and trade execution.

2. Develop and Maintain Investor Relationships: Establish and maintain relationships with investors, including government agencies, financial institutions, and private investors, to ensure access to a broad range of potential buyers for mortgage loans.

3. Pricing and Risk Analysis: Conduct pricing and risk analysis to optimize loan sale strategies and maximize profitability while considering market conditions, investor requirements, and portfolio goals.

4. Monitor Market Trends: Stay updated on market trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes impacting the secondary mortgage market. Provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management regarding potential opportunities or risks.

5. Portfolio Management: Analyze the composition and performance of the mortgage loan portfolio to identify areas for improvement and optimize loan production for sale on the secondary market.

6. Compliance and Quality Control: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and investor guidelines. Implement quality control processes to maintain the accuracy and integrity of loan data and documentation.

7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with loan originators, underwriters, loan servicing teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth loan delivery and efficient secondary market transactions.

8. Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of secondary market activities. Monitor and report on the team's performance, adjusting as necessary.

9. Industry Knowledge: Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovations related to the residential mortgage secondary market. Recommend process improvements and technology enhancements to increase efficiency and productivity.



Qualifications:


  • Bachelor s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., MBA, CMB) a plus.
  • 8+ years proven experience in residential mortgage secondary market operations, preferably in a managerial or leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of secondary market activities, including loan pricing, investor relationships, trade execution, and risk management.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage loan origination, underwriting, and servicing processes.
  • Familiarity with mortgage-backed securities (MBS), government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs), and other secondary market participants.
  • Proficient in utilizing mortgage loan origination systems (LOS), secondary market platforms, and analytical tools required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic decisions.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and industry best practices in the residential mortgage industry.
