Assembler - Inspector


Job Details

Primary Activities/Duties:

  • Work with and develop a team effort with the assemblers to continually improve the assembly process to achieve and maintain optimal quality.
  • Conduct final and in-process inspection in the assembly area as well as provide feedback to the assemblers.
  • Be able to interpret drawings and article text to ensure product conforms with paperwork.
  • Be able to learn and pass the written and practical exams to qualify as an inspector.
  • Maintain inspector status with annual review/tests to ensure skills are up to date and retained.
  • Be able to inspect all major product families (small enclosures, large enclosures, and OEMs).
  • Ensure all required check sheets are being used and filled out correctly.
  • Be an active member of the RPS teams by offering ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Perform inspection duties in a timely manner.
  • In short ensure the process and product meets customer and Rittal standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift. Have the ability to lift

25 50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders. Work at a computer and keyboard occasionally throughout shift.

Mental Requirements:

Work in a fast paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn office procedures and learn and use new software. Must be detail oriented; communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees, vendors and customers.

Safety Requirements:

Wear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required.

Direction & Decision Making:

Complete directives given either verbally or written, make and assist in determining logical decisions.

Relationship:

Direct Contacts: Quality Technicians, Assembly Supervisor, other Quality Assurance personnel, assembly department team members.

Indirect Contacts: All other departments throughout the plant.

Knowledge & Experience:

Have high school diploma or GED. Must have problem solving ability, experience with hand held gages & measuring equipment. Must also be computer literate with a working knowledge of Excel and Word. Inspection and assembly experience preferred.

Work Environment:

Warehouse and manufacturing areas, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust.
