EIS is recruiting for a Deputy Chief Financial Officer. This role coordinates, administers, and controls financial operations. The purpose of this position is to support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Finance Program activities.

This role is responsible for all areas relating to financial accounting.

Key activities include:

  • Developing and maintaining department-specific accounting policies, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders.
  • Providing tax, insurance and other reports required by statutory bodies.
  • Review, analysis, and interpretation of financial and budgetary reports are also in remit.
  • Directing all aspects of accounting operations and the preparation of annual financial forecasts.
  • Overseeing the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Provides management of accounting and finance staff.
  • Addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of finance and accounting activities including general ledger preparation, management and financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:
  • In coordination with the CFO, works with the appropriate staff to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
  • In coordination with the CFO, develops financial reporting goals and objectives; effectively communicates goals and objectives through a variety of means.
  • Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Serves as the general ledger superuser; ensures policies and best practices are followed in the general ledger within the financial system.
  • Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial compliance activities and financial reporting. Responds to inquiries regarding financial results, special reporting requests, and the like.
  • Budgeting, In coordination with the CFO, oversees the preparation and review of annual department budgets, business plans and performance measures. This includes developing and enforcing a schedule for accounting staff and relevant department leads.
  • Monitors department budgets through periodic review of financial and other related management reports.
  • Collaborates with the other department budget managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Analyzes and monitors department expenditures and revenues; researches ways to reduce costs and maximize reimbursement for services provided; serves as a liaison for various personnel, budget, and other financial issues.

Supervising:
  • In coordination with the CFO, works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitors and advises on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Coordinates processes involved with special projects and any additional required analysis requested by the CFO or other divisional leaders.
  • Provides supervision of employees; assigns and reviews work; provides broad direction, oversees department/division policy and procedure standards, and evaluates performance of direct employees.
  • Reviews and resolves internal issues; participates in the development and implementation of policies and strategic direction for the department.
  • Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.


PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
  • Provides training to new and existing staff.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Provides support with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Performs all other appropriate duties and tasks as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, or public administration, or a closely related field, and
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible governmental accounting or finance work at an appropriate level.
  • Must have proven experience in SaaS, Software Product, FinTech, or related industry with demonstrated strengths in financial planning and analysis, Mergers and Acquisitions, and large team leadership (30+)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Working knowledge of internal control procedures and management information systems;
  • Working knowledge of office automation and computerized financial applications;
  • Knowledge of budgetary, accounting and reporting systems and IFRS and US GAAP;
  • Knowledge of ERM/Accounting systems;
  • Ability to manage the workflow and deadlines of 3 or more subordinates in constructive and effective ways;
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports; ability to maintain efficient and effective financial systems and procedures;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions often under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with access to confidential information used to develop and support managerial positions.


Compensation

The targeted pay range for this position is $250,000 - 330,000 yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to your salary, you will also receive stock options as part of our offer, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
