MANAGER, ENERGY STORAGE

SUMMARY:

The Connecticut Green Bank (hereafter "Green Bank") is seeking a Manager to join its Energy Storage team.

The Manager will support the implementation and management of the Green Bank's Energy Storage Solutions program, which is designed to help Connecticut ratepayers install energy storage systems at their homes or businesses. The Manager will work closely with internal teams, including finance, legal, operations, and marketing, and with external stakeholders including utilities, contractors, regulators, manufacturers, and state agencies. The Manager will support several aspects of the program, including participant acquisition, battery technology and contractor vetting, DERMS coordination, regulatory proceedings, and evaluation, measurement, and verification. The Manager will also help to identify other opportunities for the Green Bank to further support the deployment of energy storage financing solutions, particularly in vulnerable and underserved communities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Individual responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the ongoing operations of the Energy Storage Solutions program;
  • Working closely with Distributed Energy Resource Management System ("DERMS") providers to track and monitor the performance of projects enrolled in the Energy Storage Solutions program;
  • Working with the Green Bank's marketing and outreach team to develop strategies to increase awareness of and participation in incentive programs and projects;
  • Working closely with contractors, equipment manufacturers, property owners, and other key stakeholders to implement and improve the Energy Storage Solutions program through training opportunities, outreach, and inquiry responses;
  • Ensuring all operational (i.e. staff and policies) and organizational (i.e. contracting and reporting) requirements are being implemented and executed;
  • Managing the work of consultants to support the program in areas where Green Bank does not have specific in-house expertise, when necessary;
  • Supporting the management and tracking of regulatory proceedings required to keep the Energy Storage Solutions program in compliance with the PURA program objectives and deployment targets;
  • Representing the Green Bank to the public in speaking engagements including webinars and in-person events; and,
  • Related duties as required.

The overall duties of this position will be refined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the individual hired and the ongoing needs of the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

The following minimum qualifications in knowledge, skill, and ability are required:
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with design and technical principles of energy storage and/or solar PV;
  • Knowledge and understanding of distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS) and other relevant software;
  • Knowledge of and experience working in clean energy and/or clean energy policy;
  • Ability to work in a team environment as a lead contributor, manager, and facilitator;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand various scientific and finance-related energy principles and applications, and integrate those concepts into their work;
  • Ability to work with external stakeholders including strong facilitation, negotiation, and coordination skills;
  • Considerable interpersonal skills, as well as oral and written communications skills;
  • Comfort with public speaking;
  • Ability to explain the benefits of energy storage to stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of State and Federal energy policies and regulations that support clean energy finance; and
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce is highly desirable, preferably in an administrator role.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

General Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) years of employment experience with demonstrated responsibilities related to the qualifications outlined above.

Substitutions Allowed:
  • A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university granted in a related field (e.g., environmental science, community planning, conservation resource management) may be substituted for two (2) years of minimum experience.
  • A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one additional year of minimum experience.

The Green Bank will determine if this position will be filled at the Associate Manager or Manager level based on the experience and qualifications of the individual selected.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:
  • This position reports to the Senior Manager, Incentive Programs - Energy Storage.
  • It is expected that the position will be based in our Hartford, CT office, with the opportunity for some remote work.
  • State of CT benefits package, including generous time-off, health insurance covering medical, dental and vision, retirement, student loan reimbursement, tuition reimbursement for continuing education, and paid leave.
  • Expected salary ranges from $85,000 - $111,000, but the final salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
