No tools? No worries! Our apprenticeship program sets you up with all the tools and training you need to become a skilled and successful diesel mechanic!

As a Heavy Truck & Hydraulic Mechanic Apprentice at Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems, you'll:

  • Ensure the safety and reliability of our equipment for our valued customers.
  • Master troubleshooting and repair of hydraulics on heavy trucks, guaranteeing reliability and peak performance of our equipment.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and equipment to diagnose and repair vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as tire replacement, vehicle lubrication, and electrical and cooling system maintenance on both gas and diesel engines.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of your work following our procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with our service manager to expand your skills through specialized technician training and hands-on mentoring.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required to support our team.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Possess working mechanical knowledge, including using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices
  • 1-2 years' mechanical repair is preferred
  • Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach
  • Must be able to lift and move more than 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Must be able to get into and out of various vehicles without assistance
