Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday; 12:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Trilogy has received funding from the State of Illinois to develop and implement mobile crisis response program in response to the recognition that mental health crises are not currently addressed in the most effective, safe, and trauma-informed way. Trilogy provides mobile crisis outreach services to community members in homes, businesses, and public places in Uptown, Edgewater, Rogers Park, West Rogers Park, Evanston, and Skokie.

The Crisis Counselor position respond to mental health crises in the community to provide de-escalation, assessment, safety planning, and community resources. Mobile Crisis response takes place in pairs, with one Crisis Counselor and one Peer Engagement Specialist (a person with lived experience of a mental health crisis). The team provides strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed services to people with severe mental illnesses and co-occurring substance abuse/addiction disorders utilizing a harm reduction approach.



Responsibilities:

This position works 12:30 pm - 11pm, Wednesday through Saturday.

  • Provide mobile crisis response services in pairs of two which include assessment, engagement, and safety planning with individuals in the community.
  • Providing resources to clients to reduce the need for future crisis intervention.
  • Driving a personal car, and a Trilogy van, around the community to respond to crisis calls.
  • Work with referral sources to maintain a positive partnership to ensure success of the program.
  • Provide care coordination that supports an integrated health model and make referrals to additional services as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the team for consultation and information sharing,
  • Complete all documentation in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by the date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.

Must have one of the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or related human service field
  • Bachelor's degree in any other field with two years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting
  • Licensed Practical Nurse under the Nurse Practice Act [225 ILCS 65]
  • Certificate of Psychiatric Rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program, a high school diploma/GED, and two years experience of experience in a mental health setting
  • CRSS certification through IAODAPCA
  • Family Partnership Professional certificate from and in good standing with IAODAPCA
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant licensed under the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act [225 ILCS 75] with one-year experience in a mental health setting;
  • High school diploma or GED and five years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting
  • Valid Illinois drivers license with daily access to a well-maintained vehicle with $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance

Preferred qualifications: Experience working in an emergency room, inpatient psych unit, PHP, IOP, homeless shelter, domestic violence shelter, youth residential home, substance use treatment, CST/ACT team, home based visiting service. Experience working on another Mobile Crisis Team or SASS. Answering a 24 hour crisis line.
