New **We are looking for a Food Service Attendant for the Cafeteria at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.** Location: Orange, CA

Work Schedule: On Call/ Per Diem

Shift: 8-hour, Days (Variable) **Job Summary:** Under the direction of the Retail Manager, works as a multi-skilled food service worker. Assignments may include but are not limited to stocking, serving, grill cook, salad preparation, catering or storeroom assistance. All assignments require safe food handling techniques, teamwork and adherence to department policies. Excellent customer service skills are required for assignments with direct customer contact and independent judgment. **Essential Functions:**

* Open and set up retail areas: Sets up assigned area to receive customers. Cleans all serving/eating areas. Arranges food in an attractive manner with proper utensils for serving. Stocks area with adequate serviceware and condiments.

* Cashiering: Obtains currency and change bank from supervisor and sets up register in an accurate, timely manner. Accurately performs cashier duties. Rings up sales on cash register, accepts cash from customer and gives appropriate change throughout the meal service period.

* Food Preparation: Receives written orders for food items. Prepare and/or serve food items according to standardized recipes. Follows all portioning guidelines. Stocks workstation with adequate supplies in order to serve or prepare food throughout meal service.

* Serving: Takes orders and serve food in an attractive and timely manner in caf, DDR and catering areas. Follows portion control guidelines. Checks and records food temperatures throughout meal period. Immediately reports inappropriate temperatures to supervisor and assists in corrective action.

* Sanitation: Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes food service equipment according to department procedures. Maintains a safe & clean working environment at all times. Uses safe food handling techniques and follows handwashing procedures.

* Close Retail Area: Takes down and sets up for next shift. Secures doors at appropriate time. Discards or covers/labels/dates and stores food promptly according to department standards. Returns soiled serviceware to dish room for cleaning.

* Knowledge of cleanliness and sanitation standards.

* Good verbal and visual skills to read labels, take and record temperatures and read recipes. Knowledge of liquid measures.

* Ability to speak, read and understand for job related duties.

* Customer service skills.

* Proficient in required competencies upon completion of orientation as listed on unit specific competency inventory.

* Ability to use a calculator.

**Minimum Position Requirements:** **Experience:** 6 months Food handling and cashiering experience in a food service setting. **Preferred Position Qualifications:**
