Warehouse Associate - 2nd Shift


Job Details

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for warehousing functions associated with receiving, storing, food inventory, order processing, shipping, and quality control support to the Food Bank.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills as it relates to the job

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Able to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines

Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations preferred

Experience:

Three months of related warehouse experience and/or training

Shipping and/or receiving experience is a plus

Experience operating an electric pallet jack; reach forklift preferred

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform shipping and receiving processes including counting, sorting food goods, order picking, loading, and unloading of product

Read and assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocating orders to a holding area

Sort and place materials or items on racks or shelves according to date received

Assist agencies picking up their orders as needed by loading product into their vehicles using material handling equipment or manual loading

Operate manual and electric pallet jacks and forklift equipment to load and off-load freight/products up to 50+ pounds unassisted

Complete required checklist, before operation of material handling equipment, and ensure supervisor signs off after use

Maintain inventory accuracy in all transactions and product activity by following assigned procedures; assist in counting of physical inventory

Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method

Meet metrics for average time loading/unloading a truck

Tag all items within 4 hours of physically receiving product

Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility by following appropriate NTFB food safety and personnel safety policies and procedures

Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures

Complete any necessary equipment trainings as mandated

Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

MENTAL DEMANDS:

The person in this position needs to be able to read; communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze certain information and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to successfully operate all gas and electric-powered forklift trucks, as well as manual pallet jacks and other warehouse support equipment, following completion of mandated training.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Moderate to loud noise (e.g., medium to heavy traffic in the warehouse with forklifts and pallet jacks)

This person should have the ability to work in varying internal (hot and cold) temperature levels in the warehouse, including cooler and freezer areas; may assist occasionally outdoors

Work schedule is Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm, with occasional weekend work
