**Description**

OBJECTIVE

Take telephone or in person orders and respond to contractor or professional builder Customer requests. Provide customers with a shopping atmosphere that is well maintained, clean, organized and safe. The ideal candidate will have have previous experience in the building materials industry and be bilingual.

The pay range for this position is $14.30/hr - $22.00/hr depending on experience.

INTENT OF JOB DESCRIPTION AND MODIFICATION:

This job description describes the duties and responsibilities, qualification requirements, physical demands, work environment, etc. for this job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are the essential duties and responsibilities of the Job. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provide counter service by taking telephone or in person orders and responding to Customer requests. Resolve Customer and merchandise problems.

2. Complete all paperwork to take routine and special orders for Customers; ring up sale on cash register. Check inventory to determine availability for delivery and verify out-of-stock merchandise.

3. Accept returned merchandise by verifying documents and merchandise. Process refunds, credits and exchanges according to Company procedures to assure customer satisfaction and accurate accounting of inventory. Coordinate with receiving/warehouse to restock returned merchandise.

4. Assist in the purchasing of select product categories by monitoring specific merchandise, reporting inventory levels and replenishment needs to management.

5. Calculate small take-offs and bids, estimating lumber and material lists for Customers.

6. Maintain a clean store environment including doors, floors, windows, ceilings, restrooms and work stations. Clean and dust products and displays and face the products. Ensure aisles and other areas are clear of obstacles to allow customers to shop easily and safely.

7. Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.

8. Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Good interpersonal, communication, sales and Customer Service skills are necessary. Knowledge of building materials products and lumber is desirable. Ability to operate computer equipment and applicable programs is required.
