Patient Service Specialist

Vancouver Clinic is looking for a full-time Patient Service Specialist who provides excellent customer service over the telephone in a Call Center environment. Our Call Center is located in Battle Ground, WA. You will perform initial triage of phone calls per established protocols, schedule appointments, serve as a resource for insurance referral and authorization questions, ensuring all information is obtained prior to scheduled appointment.

Schedules

Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday 10:30am - 7:00pm

Remote opportunity available after successful completion of training and requirements. This may be as long as six months.

Hourly compensation minimum is $18.91, hiring rate dependent on qualifications and applicable professional experience. Opportunity to participate in the Metric Based Incentive Compensation Plan

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Handle all aspects of appointment scheduling.

* Perform initial triage of phone call per protocols.

* Handle emergency calls calmly and promptly according to established emergency protocols.

* Verify demographic information on every patient. Document changes accurately.

* Respond to patients' questions regarding referrals.

* Monitor and investigate any delays in authorization/denial/redirection. Notify providers of denials, redirections, or delays.

* Process and enter authorizations for "automatic authorization" referrals.

* Provide patient with appropriate procedural directions.

* Serve as a centralized resource for insurance referral and prior authorization questions.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Minimum of two years experience in either medical office setting or in the health insurance industry preferred.

* Experience with multi-line phone system preferred.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to handle pressure situations with empathy, tact, and diplomacy.

* Working knowledge of medical terminology.

* Ability to work independently yet operate as an integral part of a team.

* Able to independently organize and prioritize work flow.

* Working knowledge of computers and basic software programs.

Pay Range:

$17.80 - $24.91

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
