Description

The role of Staff Accountant involves a range of accounting duties connected to the month-end closing process, creating financial statements, overseeing inventory, managing accounts payable and receivable, and handling cash flow.

Responsibilities

Reconcile all bank accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
Complete journal entries for depreciation, accruals, and other necessary adjustments, including bi-weekly payroll posting based on PEO invoices.
Maintain the Capital WIP Account, transitioning projects and equipment into service/depreciation schedules as dictated by Senior Management.
Close the general ledger accurately and on time.
Prepare the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
Ensure all financial statements are compliant with GAAP.
Review inventory loss for abnormalities and communicate findings to Senior Management.
Oversee the review and posting of all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
Review and queue all vendor ACH payments within the banking system for secondary approval.
Prepare funds for bank deposits.
Escalate issues related to timely payment of invoices and collection of receivables to Senior Management.
Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity to ensure sufficient funds for operations.
Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cash projections.
Oversee and approve the posting of general ledger, revenue, payroll, accounts payable, and banking transactions to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Recognize, investigate, and implement cost-saving opportunities.
Assist in shaping the organization's accounting and financial policies and procedures.
Compile monthly and year-end documents for balance sheets, income statements, cash flow analysis, and budget variances.
Recommend and assist in creating annual budgets.
Manage the monthly and year-end processes, collaborating with auditors and outside financial institutions.
Perform other duties reasonably related to the position as assigned.

Qualifications

BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree.
Proven working experience as an Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or Finance Manager.
Advanced computer skills with MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook programs. In addition, accounting software and databases.
Able to read, interpret and manipulate large amounts of financial data
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
Adheres to confidentiality processes and procedures.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Courteous and professional manner.
Strong customer service skills.
Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
