Our Claims department seeks a claims analytics manager to report to the claims data manager. This role is responsible for managing a reporting and analytics team. The claims data manager must also understand and analyze claims data, partner with internal and external customers to understand data needs, synthesize the needs into functional specifications, deliver solutions, and when necessary, collaborate with IT to design applications to meet customer needs. This position is located in Fairfield, OH at our Headquarters office.

Starting Pay: The pay range for this position is $90,000- $120,000 annually. Pay is based on the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Be ready to:

  • supervise the Claims Analytics and Reporting group staff, which includes conducting performance evaluations, setting goals, hiring associates, identifying training needs and development opportunities, etc.
  • assign work to associates, which includes prioritizing tasks and managing deadlines for deliverables
  • provide regular feedback, guidance and training to associates
  • review the team's reporting and solution requirements, test case development, test execution, ad hoc reporting, analyses, dashboards and statutory reporting submissions
  • provide sign-off on changes relative to Claims BW and other claims-related data system changes
  • actively participate in claims data discussions across the company
  • investigate and provide input on downstream data projects and data issues
  • build and maintain relationships with Claims leadership, IT and other business units
  • collaborate with IT partners and the group's manager on prioritization of development work
  • collaborate with IT and claims data consumers to troubleshoot data issues and design new reporting applications to ensure reporting and analysis requests can be supported
  • lead meetings with customers to understand report or analysis requirements
  • assure internal and agency claims data customers are provided efficient and timely first and second-level support
  • perform proofs of concept on new data tools and/or new data tool functionality
  • oversee data mapping relating to CFXML, BW, Snowflake and other downstream systems
  • create dashboards, including SQL coding and custom formula writing, and review the team's dashboard work
  • identify appropriate tools to meet specific business requirements
  • test and validate data in developed reports and/or dashboards
  • extract and validate information from a variety of data sources, including downstream data sources
  • interpret data and develop recommendations based upon findings
  • establish team and reporting processes
  • ensure accuracy and consistency of claims data across data sources
  • continuously improve business processes, analyze and monitor productivity, identify loss trends and support business transformation and innovation initiatives
  • identify trends and respond to external queries from Departments of Insurance, state and federal regulatory agencies and Rating Bureaus

Bring education and experience from:
  • a bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics or information technology-related fields or related experience
  • professional insurance designations (preferred)
  • experience with CIC claims data (preferred)
  • experience using data models and tools like PowerPivot, Power BI, IBM Cognos, Tableau or similar
  • experience using and creating SharePoint lists, libraries and forms
  • knowledge of project management methodologies, such as Agile
  • three or more years of hands-on experience using Cognos, SAP Business Warehouse or other reporting tools
  • knowledge of the insurance industry and risk management
  • experience with data visualization tools, databases and data transmission concepts
  • three or more years of experience and advanced knowledge using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, combination charts and vlookup
