General Description
Under general supervision, the Kids' Korner Aide provides a safe and secure activity area for children who are in the courthouse to testify in court or whose parents or guardians are conducting court business. Childcare services involve general care to children, intake and release of children to the appropriate adult and housekeeping duties.
Hours of Work
* 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Essential Functions
* Properly register children into Kids' Korner
* Ensure proper assignment of wristbands to children and parents, pagers to parents, and explain rules and guidelines to parents
* Supervise and facilitate creative age appropriate activities for children in the waiting room
* Positive reinforcement and guidance to the children in the waiting room
* Anticipate and handle problems to prevent any disruption in the room including a behavioral issue with the children or inappropriate behavior from the parents/guardian
* Strong interpersonal communication skills are needed to communicate with parents, deputies, judges, attorneys, and the public
* Perform housekeeping duties in the children's waiting room; disinfect and sanitize items and toys to meet health regulations
* Ensure the health and safety of the children.
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
* Ability to process instructions, written and oral, quickly, and effectively
* Strong interpersonal communication skills to be able to communicate with parents, deputies, judges, attorneys, and the public
* Requires the ability to make decisions in a fluid environment
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements (Ed and/or Other Requirements)
* Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent
* One or more years of relevant work experience
Physical Requirements
* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
* Standing or walking for extended periods
* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
