Description

Founded in 1980, The Northwest School offers students in grades 6-12 a rich, creative, and dynamic program of study in Humanities, Sciences, Athletics, and the Arts. Our program serves roughly 400 students in grades 6 through 12, including international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory. In concert with challenging academics and a robust art program, the school grounds students in the principles of environmental sustainability, social justice, and global perspective. These three areas are fundamental to the educational experience of The Northwest School, integrated into curriculum, inspired by student-led interest groups and initiatives, and explored through schoolwide community conversations. Our students graduate as idealistic and globally-aware citizens who possess the knowledge and confidence that they can act as a force for good in the world.

Northwest seeks a Photography Teacher to teach 2 year-long sections of Upper School Photography and 3 trimester-long sections of Middle School Photography. This is a part-time (.75 FTE) position. Arts: A well-rounded education depends upon an understanding of the creative process that only participation in many art forms can produce. Our arts classes are taught by professional artists, dancers, and musicians. Students take two year-long arts classes or a combination of an art and another elective. To graduate, they must complete at least one course from each of the four disciplines: Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts. Within the Visual Arts, we teach students to express themselves creatively in form and space. Student works are exhibited throughout the year.
