Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the Production Scheduler is to coordinate and/or monitor the flow of products through the complete production cycle. Provide timely planning and to generate and maintain effective daily, weekly, or monthly scheduling of manufacturing work orders to the manufacturing floor in order to achieve both internal financial goals and customer delivery dates. While developing a schedule, the Production Scheduler may examine work orders or customer requests, expected delivery dates, plant personnel and equipment capabilities, and inventory availability. The Production Scheduler then balances these elements to create an actionable and efficient production schedule. In addition to developing the initial manufacturing schedules, the Production Scheduler makes adjustments based on changing conditions within the manufacturing pipeline. For example, the Production Scheduler may have to shift processes due to equipment breakdowns or to compensate for delayed material deliveries. This aspect of the role requires excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability. The Production Scheduler identifies opportunities to improve the manufacturing or production process through more effective schedule management. An excellent Production Scheduler is well-versed in production procedures and ways to optimize them. They are organized and results-driven with great problem-solving skills. Advanced communication and computer skills are very useful for the role.

This position will also require the Production Scheduler to assist in other areas within the Sales department as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain schedules.
  • Use software to generate reports and schedules.
  • Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption
  • Update active job list with accurate ship dates.
  • Provide administrative support to Project Managers.
  • Coordinate production scheduling with Project Managers and Production Supervisor/s.
  • Answer schedule and cancellation requests from Sales.
  • Update backlog report, forecasting, and production schedule daily/weekly.
  • Create professional written correspondence to customers.
  • Provide help to other internal departments where necessary.
  • Interface with Production, Purchasing, and Sales departments on material status and production planning issues.
  • Build and maintain intercompany relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with all internal resources to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in production and production planning in a related industry.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficient use of computer systems and software applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience as production scheduler/planner.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
