This position w ill operate friction cranes, lattice boom crawlers and stationary or traveling cranes to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. Me first belongs here.Education:High school diploma or equivalent requiredValid Driver s LicenseExperience:Five (5) years of verifiable experience operating cranes3-5 years experience in Heavy Civil ProjectsPile driving experience preferredPrior experience leading crews is strongly preferredMust have prior experience in rigging and signaling and bridge operationsExperience operating additional equipment is strongly preferredPrefer OCONUS experience operating equipment in an environment with military services, commercial agencies, and host nation elementsAdditional experience and education requirements may vary by assignmentEquipment Operator training and certificate from National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), verifiable military or civilian Equipment Operator training from construction field, or related certification issued by a previous employerSkills:Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manor (verbal and written)Able to read and understand heavy construction plansAble to work in a team environmentWorks well must work in a high demand environmentKnowledge of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards in crane operationsEquipment Operator training and certificate from National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), verifiable military or civilian Equipment Operator training from construction field, or related certification issued by a previous employerAbility to obtain, through evaluation, the certification to operate computerized mobile cranes up to eighty (80) tonsResponsibilities:Maintain a safe and productive crane, including performing routine maintenanceInspect work sites to ensure safety of workersSupport structures operations, including but not limited to, forming substructure, setting steel and concrete girders, and placing reinforced concrete decksCheck radius and set up of crane before operations beginProvide Input on lift plans and means and methodsWork closely with foreman on issues of safety and toolbox talksMaintain daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly inspections and be responsible for basic maintenance of crane and rigging associated with operations.Notify appropriate chain of command of any defaults with crane or rigging.Performs other duties as assignedPhysical Demands/ Working Environment:Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handledAbility to remain outdoors for long periods of time in various seasons and conditions.Long hours and exposure to strenuous conditionsMust be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night/weekend)Climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, ride, or work from a barge, pier, vessel, etc.Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, push, pull, etc. for varying amounts of time.Benefits:Ballard offers a strong benefit package and provides a culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotion.
