Position Title: Student Teachers/Practicums/Internships/Observation Placement

Position Summary:

This placement is designed to fulfill the required hours of in-classroom observation and student teaching to become certified as a teacher or another school-based, certificated role.

Who can apply:

* Students enrolled in a teaching certification program who need to complete one of the following:

* practicum

* observation hours

* student teaching

* internship

* Students recommended by their university supervisor (required)

* Note: this application is ONLY for persons in a certification/licensure program. We are unable to approve internships outside of a university request.

Placement Process for Student Teachers

* University Supervisor recommends placement in Microsoft FORMS on behalf of the student

* This is the initial request for placement

* Student Submits Nimble Application to Saint Louis Public Schools

* Application requirements for requests above 40 hours/semester (level 2):

* TB Test Results (with read date within 1 year)

* Missouri Substitute Certification (preferred)

* In lieu of Substitute Certification we will accept FBI Background Check (with clearance dated within the last 6 months)

* Application requirements for Student Teachers below 40 hours (level 1):

* Missouri Substitute Certification

* In lieu of Substitute Certification we will accept FCSR Background Check (or FBI background with clearance dated within the last 6 months)

* Human Resources Processes and Confirms Placement:

* Human Resources reviews application*

* If accepted, Human Resources identifies/confirms placement school

* Human Resources e-mails confirmation of placement to student, university supervisor, and partner school principal

* Partner school principal and supervisor work collaboratively to determine and confirm final logistics (e.g. school specific start times, assignments, procedures)

If application is incomplete, HR will notify the student and university supervisor of missing components. University supervisor should send a follow-up email once the application has been updated and completed.

Additional Notes

For students doing subsequent semesters of coursework with SLPS, re-submission of the complete application will be waived in most instances; however, the university will need to send a letter of request for each new semester and the student will need written confirmation from HR before beginning their new experience. If the student's placement continues beyond two semesters or transitions from Level 1 to Level 2, the student will need to complete the full Level 2 application.
