Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role The Facilities Maintenance Organization is seeking a Painter/Glazer to perform the following tasks and/or responsibilities:
- Perform rough and finish painting on structures, machinery, equipment, etc.
- Be able to prepare all surfaces for painting
- Ability to mix and blend pigments to desired color/consistency, driers, plasticizers,
- solvents, and extenders as the job requires.
- Ability to estimate materials and time required to complete tasks
- Ability to caulk, putty, bondo, plaster holes and cracks
- Sand surfaces in preparation of covering
- Ability to proficiently apply drywall (joint) compound, tape, and finish drywall
- Ability to proficiently skimcoat walls in preparation of paint or wall covering
- Paint offices, building structures, equipment and furniture using brushes, rollers, spray
- gun or other applicators
- Apply adhesives or sizing of surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray gun to maximize
- adhesions of coverings to surfaces
- Ability to install finished wall coverings with proper alignment, pattern matching and
- neatness of seams using hand tools
- Ability to proficiently install window/glass film
- Ability to match and apply stain to office furniture
Qualifications Sought - Ability to erect and work off scaffolding and ladders in a safe and professional manner
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a fork truck, mobile working platforms, and overhead crane permit to operate
- Must be able to bend, reach, twist, and stoop repeatedly
- Must be able to wear and work using a respirator
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Cleans and store tools and equipment
- Ability to operate hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
Additional Information / Desired Experience - Ability to handle and manage hazardous waste
- General computer skills
- Ability to work all shifts, as required
- Must be self-motivated
- Willing to work overtime, when available
- Must be able to function as a team member
- Ability to work outdoors
- Knowledge of standard hand and power tools in the Carpentry trades along with Painting trade is preferred.
