Mason Harding are proud to be continuing a global talent partnership with an early stage US start-up, in the iPSC & recombinant protein bioproduction space, to recruit a newly created Principal Scientist opening in Coralville Iowa!


Reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer, you will participate in the formulation and process development of novel genetic constructs and biotherapeutic agents, specifically for cell lines & therapeutic products for research products, pre-clinical through late state, license application, and commercialization.


Key Areas of Responsibilities


Research, Experiments, Investigations and Evaluations


  • Coordinate and implement multiple research projects/programs under the direction of the Chief Scientific Officer.
  • Perform basic and complex techniques as outlined in research plans, assure fidelity to scientific protocols, and assist in the design of research plans/protocols.
  • Support lab-scale bioproduction of drug product formulation and tech transfer process to GMP manufacturing partners
  • Ability to perform standard analyses including PCR, ELISA, Western Blot and other protein analytical methods.
  • A strong understanding of physico-chemical properties and biopharmaceuticals is desired.


Data Analysis


  • Assure safety and compliance with required organizational and regulatory policies for laboratory activities.
  • Collect and interpret experimental data to guide subsequent pharmaceutical product and process development experiments.
  • Generate and support data generation for marketing, product management and application scientist discussions with customers and product collateral development.
  • May develop new methodologies and techniques related to the area of research.
  • May perform complex statistical analysis of data using advanced statistical methods.


Administrative / Project Management


  • Collaborate and interact with external customers for custom development projects.
  • Actively work with principal investigators for the company s active scientific grant programs
  • Support marketing, product management, and application scientist colleagues to promote the company s products and support ongoing customer engagement.
  • Coordinate and manage equipment in the lab facility.
  • Produce written materials in business and industry-specific technical language-related technical whitepapers and application notes.


Education Requirement


  • Candidates with a MSc or PhD degree (or about to complete) in biochemistry, biochemical engineering, immunology or molecular biology.
