This position is full-time and requires a hybrid work schedule out of our NYC office location.


Overview:


The Director, Thought Leadership will play a pivotal role in amplifying, optimizing, and measuring the reputation of major brands through the consumer lens. The ideal candidate is a seasoned communicator with prior experience in leading thought leadership programs and elevating executive voices across earned and owned platforms. The individual will possess excellent client management skills and be comfortable working alongside agency and client leadership. A proven track record of managing and mentoring teams, coupled with strong media relationships, is required.


Responsibilities:


Thought Leadership, Earned, and Owned Storytelling:

  • Develop captivating thought leadership narratives that authentically communicate brand messages and generate earned media.
  • Lead thought leadership programs for multiple executives and be responsible for securing key opportunities across top-tier media outlets, conferences/events, and other channels.
  • Drive strategy, execution, and measurement for key executives across owned social channels.


Relationship Building:

  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with key reporters/editors, conference/event organizers, and other stakeholders on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate closely with client leaders, providing strategic counsel to achieve objectives by understanding what is driving culture and how brands can authentically participate in prominent conversations.


Communication and Writing:

  • Demonstrate clear and concise writing skills.
  • Show a mastery of social content development and best practices.
  • Provide strong editing skills with close attention to detail.


Team Direction and Development:

  • Lead internal teams and provide daily guidance on client deliverables.
  • Inspire and nurture the growth of team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Conduct workshops and mentorship sessions to enhance storytelling skills and passion within the team.


Plan and Pivot:

  • Support team efforts anticipate potential brand challenges for clients and outline strategic responses.
  • Monitor for emerging trends and provide analysis on how brands should or should not participate in them.
  • Evaluate performance of programs and provide strategic pivots for clients as needed.


Requirements:


  • 6-8+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on thought leadership, brand reputation, and/or earned storytelling.
  • Deep knowledge of strategic storytelling and media relations.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Track record of providing counsel to executive leaders and leading successful campaigns.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Prior PR agency experience and expertise in utilizing relevant tools to measure and analyze brand reputation.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring diverse teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $110K-$150K and this position is eligible for benefits that include medical insurance (health, dental, and vision), retirement plan, paid time off, paid parental leave, new business and employee referral bonuses, etc. Please note that the compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for New York City based hires only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Pay Transparency Law. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as candidates' relevant work experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
