POSITION INFO:

This position requires knowledge in all aspects of maintenance for the facility. Good communication with the department manager of the area, as well as the maintenance manager and plant services manager is required in order to keep production running smoothly. A high degree of skill and design are needed while working closely as a team with the maintenance manager, engineering, production and maintenance personnel within the department. This position also requires working with outside vendors in order to determine the proper components needed. The Master Mechanic will be an extension of the service department management and will help to plan and support all department activities in a manner which best represents the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform activities in a leadership role, supporting upper management and ensure all work in the department is completed in a safe and acceptable manner.

Maintain good housekeeping and support all safety initiatives

Maintain systems and address breakdowns

Assist in directing maintenance associates in order to focus on key machines.

Work with vendors and contractors.

Must also be available if called in on emergencies, or be willing to stay late if an issue arises that needs to be addressed immediately.

Assist in other areas of the plant as needed.

EDUCATION:

A high school diploma or GED is required. A certificate of completion for vocational training in necessary fields must be obtained.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance preferred

TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Experience with cylinders, valves, bearings, Kingsbury heads, indexers, gearboxes, OBI presses, etc.

Ability to read blueprints

Mathematical comprehension

Strong mechanical aptitude
