Job Highlights

The utility technician is responsible for completion of weekly PM's on safety equipment, hooking and unhooking Cl2 cars, and loading/unloading occasional Br2 trailers for customer shipments. This position wears multiple hats including filling in and assisting when needed at both the Cl2 Dock and NaHS. Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Weekly safety shower and Cl2 closure PM's

* Conduct monthly inspections (LO/LC valves, ladder inspections, windsocks, emergency lights, etc.)

* Maintain Environmental air records for assigned areas (NaHS,Cl2 Dock, Br2 Tower)

* Hooking up/unhooking Cl2 railcars (Ensures mechanical integrity of Cl2 fittings, replaces as needed)

* Loading/offloading Br2 shipments

* Assist operations with both routine and non-routine maintenance (Br2, Boiler, NaHS, and/or Cl2 Dock)

* Distribute OPL's (One Point Lessons) to Br2 Tower, NaHS, and Cl2 Dock, and deliver to the safety department upon completion

* Housekeeping duties including dumping trash in assigned units (Br2 Tower, NaHS, and Cl2 Dock)

* Make routine rounds throughout the assigned areas to ensure proper housekeeping. Resolve audit findings

* Pipe labeling and tank labeling

* Decontamination of equipment and proper tagging for disposal of piping, valves, instruments, etc. that have been removed from service

* Enter work orders or address anything observed when making rounds through respective areas (replacement of broken water hoses, utility piping, missing plugs or caps, etc.)

* Support operators with routine/nonroutine samples and lab transport

* Support NaHS operator/Cl2 dock operator in non-routine tasks

* Replenish Control Room with utilities and PPE

Requirements

* High School Diploma

* Experience in chemical operations is a plus

* May require membership in Fire Brigade

* Mechanical aptitude (working with pipe wrenches and tools needed for plant activities and minor maintenance)

* Experience in operating a forklift or ability to learn

* Participation in plant safety and environmental programs

* Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

* Demonstrates behavior consistent with site standards and coaches others to do the same.

* Must maintain and continually improve the housekeeping standards of the area

* Able to multi-task
