Material Handler

Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Follow written or oral instructions regarding daily tasks and job duties.
  • Load materials/products on trucks.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Move materials as required by production department.
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
  • Convey materials and items from racks to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock, sorts, and places materials or items on pallets according to shipping order.
  • Mark materials with identifying labels.
  • Identify and compare product by number code (QC).
  • Previous experience with cycle counts and inventory is preferred.
  • Operates: Sit Down Forklift and must maintain their assigned equipment in good working condition.
  • Must be able to operate their assigned equipment safely and accurately for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Communicate, in English, in a clear and effective manner.
  • One year of Forklift Experience with good safety record.
  • Good math skills and writing skills are needed to complete paperwork associated with inventory.
  • Ability to work overtime to accommodate incoming freight deliveries and workloads.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment and maintain regular attendance.
  • Must be able to work overtime as business needs dictate.
Physical Demands:
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to work in hot or cold environments.
  • Able to reach above the shoulders.
  • Able to grasp, pinch with fingers and thumbs.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
