Brunel is looking to hire a Marine Assurance HSSE & Compatibility Coordinator to work with a Major Oil and Gas company in Houston, TX.


Industry: Oil & Gas / LNG / Maritime

Location: Downtown Houston

Workplace: On-site / In-office (no remote/WFH opportunity)

Work schedule: Monday thru Friday / 40 hours

Work type: W2 Contract with potential for direct hire based on performance, work ethic, company need, and budget approval.

Start Date: September 2024

Estimated duration: 5 months

Rate: Hourly with 1.5x OT

Responsibilities:

  • Provide maritime assurance for vessel condition, operational quality, and safety in hydrocarbon (LNG, bunker fuels) transportation, advising fleet managers on necessary corrective actions.
  • Oversee and follow up on Vetting requests in CMAS, reviewing PSC Inspection reports, SIRE reports, and Incident Reports for LNG Carriers and Bunker vessels used in business operations or nominated by customers.
  • Maintain a global terminal database and develop a Ship/Shore compatibility database to support international trading activities.
  • Coordinate the Ship/Shore compatibility process, collaborating with marine teams, commercial operations, and fleet managers.
  • Generate monthly reports detailing all HSSE and Marine Assurance activities.
  • Track HSSE incidents and operational events on chartered and customer-nominated vessels.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of the LNG Carrier Fuel and Heel Management tool and related databases.
  • Participate in emergency drills and exercises with ship managers, owners, and terminals to ensure preparedness for marine-related incidents.
  • Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Foster a positive safety culture by helping to develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures aimed at achieving high performance standards.


Requirements:

Education and Certifications: Bachelor s degree or equivalent required; Master s degree is advantageous.

Experience: Over 3 years of experience, including at least 6 months in a junior role onboard Gas or Oil tankers or in an LNG Terminal support position. Familiarity with international and national marine assurance systems and processes (e.g., SIRE and USCG CoC) is beneficial.

  • Strong leadership and administrative capabilities.
  • High awareness of safety issues in hazardous environments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; able to effectively communicate across all organizational levels and with diverse groups, including different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.
  • Proficient in report writing.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and programs accurately and promptly.
  • Superior problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Auditing skills are a plus.
