About the Role
Sustainability Analyst
As the Sustainability analyst, you will be a part of the Government Affairs, Policy & Sustainability team that works cross-functionally across all operations, projects, and supply chains to help identify, develop, and implement sustainability principles and criteria through various sustainability initiatives.
This position will assist in developing a broad range of sustainability programs, including annual Environmental, Social and Governance reporting, sustainability certification programs, and feedstock/supply chain compliance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess voluntary sustainability program criteria domestically and internationally to facilitate LanzaJet's participation in voluntary programs, including via development of an integrated sustainability roadmap
  • Lead LanzaJet's engagement with emerging voluntary sustainability programs applicable to SAF, including those applicable to the sale of voluntary SAF certificates,
  • Take primary responsibility for development of LanzaJet sustainability reporting initiatives
  • Utilize life cycle assessment (LCA) results to develop and implement sustainability metrics and other relevant data to inform business decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability insights and recommendations
  • Leverage existing sustainability modeling tools and frameworks to drive business impact.
  • Quantify energy, economic, environmental, public health, energy burden and equity impact of policies and programs
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data on energy consumption, waste management, greenhouse gas emissions, and other sustainability metrics related to the GHG Protocol
  • Conduct research on best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements in sustainability
  • Assist in developing and implementing training sessions and awareness campaigns to educate employees and stakeholders about sustainability practices

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of current state of SAF: Technical (feedstock/pathways, logistics, opportunities/constraints), Commercial (current and future players, vertical value chain, competitor activities), Policy (Current and proposed legislation, RINs, LCFS, CORSIA, EU RED II, Japa FIT, etc.) and Sustainability certifications (ISCC, RSB)
  • Familiarity with GREET and other Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) models
  • Basic understanding of aviation and SAF industry; specifically jet fuel and/or refined products and logistics
  • Expertise in GHG inventory accounting, including GHG Protocol requirements and reporting
  • Familiarity with voluntary registries related to sale of environmental attributes, including SAF certificates, book and claim. Etc.
  • Background in supply chain compliance in biofuels or related industry
  • Excellent computer skills, Excel, PowerPoint and modeling programs
  • Problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (including written and verbal).
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and adept in a fast-paced environment
  • Work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and balance a heavy workload.
  • Required to work with the highest level of ethics and discretion.
  • Think strategically: Aligns own work with broader business strategies and goals; stays aware of the business implications of the biofuels market and SAF industry trends.
  • Collaborates: Ensures understanding of how own role fits into the bigger picture and works with others to advance individual and team goals; seeks information and other points of view, and quickly responds to needs and promotes ideas with energy, urgency, and personal commitment.


Education & Experience:
  • B.S. or equivalent in environmental sciences, GHG management and accounting, energy engineering, or other related environmental planning, business, or sustainability degree from an accredited 4-year university or college.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience
