Model Shop Technician


Job Details

MAU is hiring a Model Shop Technician at our client in Conyers, GA. As a Model Shop Technician, you will make all necessary fixtures to support manufacturing, conduct repairs on tools, and support the engineering department with manufacturing prototypes while in alignment with the company mission, vision, values, and objectives. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information:

  • 7:00 AM 3:30 PM


Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role


General Requirements:

  • Good hand skills working with either Wood, Metal, or Plastic materials
  • Knowledge of welding
  • General mechanical skills
  • Model making, pattern making skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and design simple fixtures
  • Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)


Essential Functions:

  • Build CNC and assembly fixtures of all kinds including fixtures for welding, cutting, routing, gluing, bending, etc. of plastic parts
  • Prep and mount patterns for sample shots or for foundry castings
  • Prep tools and fixtures prior to each production run
  • Complete minor tool repairs and regular tool maintenance as needed
  • Support Engineering department on new products with sample and design validation
  • Make prototypes to blueprint specifications per instructions
  • Observe all Safety Policies and Plant Rules
  • Communicate and work with all levels of plant personnel to ensure good teamwork
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Perform other tasks as required


Work Environment or Working Conditions:

  • Employee will work both on the manufacturing floor and in a designated area of the manufacturing floor for the model shop
  • Normal plant environment which may include exposure to dust, and both hot and cold conditions
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary to comply with government and company safety standards
