WELDER APPRENTICE
Under controlled supervision, learns how to use all welding equipment and gains experience performing welding functions while working toward a high degree of proficiency.
Essential Job Functions
- Follow training schedule to become proficient in welding tasks and duties
- Review daily welding production schedule with Production Lead to insure awareness of requirements and output required
- Read blue prints to determine required weld locations, components and layouts
- Learn to operate all position, stick and wire welding equipment used in the department
- Weld component parts as required referring to prints or product books as necessary
- Perform grinding, deburring and polishing duties required in the process of producing finished, high quality welding projects
- Report immediately to the supervisor any and all problems that may affect safety, equipment, tooling and or quality
- Inspect work periodically to insure that welds are consistent with approved levels of quantity and quality established by the company
- Operate bar code scanner/computer
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements Physical Demands:
- Pass Jager Eye examination, annually
- Perform work in the plant facility 100% of the time
- Lift up to 50 pounds, as needed
Education/Skills/Experience:
- Technical degree in Welding, either current student or recent graduate required
- Knowledge of American weld symbols required
- Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Ability to read blue prints
- Familiarity with computers to look up work instructions, track labor and other tasks as needed
