WELDER APPRENTICE

Under controlled supervision, learns how to use all welding equipment and gains experience performing welding functions while working toward a high degree of proficiency.

Essential Job Functions

  • Follow training schedule to become proficient in welding tasks and duties
  • Review daily welding production schedule with Production Lead to insure awareness of requirements and output required
  • Read blue prints to determine required weld locations, components and layouts
  • Learn to operate all position, stick and wire welding equipment used in the department
  • Weld component parts as required referring to prints or product books as necessary
  • Perform grinding, deburring and polishing duties required in the process of producing finished, high quality welding projects
  • Report immediately to the supervisor any and all problems that may affect safety, equipment, tooling and or quality
  • Inspect work periodically to insure that welds are consistent with approved levels of quantity and quality established by the company
  • Operate bar code scanner/computer
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Physical Demands:
  • Pass Jager Eye examination, annually
  • Perform work in the plant facility 100% of the time
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, as needed
Education/Skills/Experience:
  • Technical degree in Welding, either current student or recent graduate required
  • Knowledge of American weld symbols required
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Familiarity with computers to look up work instructions, track labor and other tasks as needed
