Job Summary
The Corporate Energy Manager main responsibility is to optimize the Cement Operations power cost and to lead the Scope 2 decarbonization roadmap.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the Scope 2 decarbonization roadmap.
o Develop and implement on-site renewable energy projects and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements.
o Develop and implement procurement strategy to increase renewable energy consumption.
Manage power procurement for all cement plants in the U.S.
o Drive power provider selection process from Request for proposal (RFP) to recommendation
o Develop RFP including technical specifications, consumption profiles, price structure/schemes and supply duration
o Lead negotiation towards the best option available and alternatives evaluation
o Secure approvals a contracting documentation
o Guarantee contract compliance with Company Standards and Company guidelines.
Secure and assure implementation of distribution and transportation service agreements: Connection service agreement/s and Demand response programs.
Develop strategies to optimize the power cost.
Monitor power cost key performance indicators (KPIs) monitoring including,
o Deviations Root Cause Analysis
o Action plans implementation
o Short term cost forecasting
o Global network alignment
o Track renewable projects performance (i.e. Windmills in Victorville)
Guide power consumption operational parameters:
o Monitor consumption patterns vs power rate structure
o Demand response program management
o Forecast monthly consumption and cost
Lead Energy Efficiency program
o Coordinate Energy Management System
o Provide guidance for Energy-Star certification
o Development and coordination of Energy Efficiency projects
Monitor Power regulation, grid availability (capacity) and service/subsidies opportunities.
Manage power supply business relationship. Single-point of contact for business related matters with power retail, distribution, transport and other related Govt Agencies (EPA, Energy Star, DOE, etc.)
Incorporate strategy to Company's cornerstone plans: Budget and 5 years business plan and CO2 roadmap and Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Affairs plans
Provide technical guidance and advisory to Aggregates , Ready-mix and Admixtures business units
Collaborate with Market Intelligence to develop a cost competitive advantage
Talent development and technical training in the area of expertise.
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business
Ten (10) experience in renewable energy project development and power contract negotiations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with U.S. power markets
Good oral and written communication skills
Problem-solving skills
Computer literate with knowledge of applicable software
Continually undergo training to enhance technical and managerial skills Working Conditions
Capability to work extended hours as necessary
Ability to participate in required overnight travel as necessary
