This position matches paint and wallcoverings, makes on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc., prepares walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc. and applies paint to these surfaces. This position reads blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary. May perform touch-ups or coordinate large painting projects related to the construction industry as well as preforms other tasks as assigned. The Painter may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary and approved by supervisor. Job Requirements Education Required: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Trade School in the mechanical fields Experience Required: Two years prior professional painting experience. Preferred: Journeyman Painter (4 + years unionized experience). Preferred: One or more years working in a healthcare facility. Skills Hand truck and ladders. Proficient organizational skills. Proficient communication skills. Willing to work flexible hours. Proficient in recognizing and correct surface damage problems of various sizes. Estimate material needed for each job assigned. Spray paint equipment and drying fans. Operate electric powered hand tools. Drywall tools with knowledge of taping and skimming. Computer and tablet operation for Work Order Maintenance Software. Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Active Driver's License Preferred: STI Fire Stop Certified within 1 year of hire (provided by Cox yearly if not already certified) Preferred: Lead and Mold Certified
