Job Details

Chef Assistant Overview:To assist the Chef in a cold kitchen with tasks needed to serve meals to our large distribution center team.

Shift: Thursday-Sunday 7a-5:30p

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Chef with meal preparation and plate 100-200 meals per shift. Menu consists of salads, sandwiches, and microwavable platters.
  • Hand out meals to our associates with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station at all times.
  • Perform daily & weekly cleaning tasks such as wiping down surfaces, sweeping, mopping, dishes, etc.
  • Ensure food service tables are clean before, during and after meal service.
  • Keep the break room neat, clean and stocked with necessary meal service utensils, and daily consumables such as coffee, tea and condiments.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Assist Chef(s) with receiving, checking and placement of supply orders.
  • Monitor food and supply levels, inform Chef when inventory runs low.
  • Perform ingredient runs for Chef when needed.
  • Monitor supply levels and report to Chef when inventory is low and preferably before the supplies are out.
Required Experience/Education:
  • One plus years of experience working in a kitchen environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Able to understand and read temperatures (by degrees in fahrenheit)
  • Able to utilize kitchen equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Able to work as part of a team and individually
  • ServeSafe Certification preferred
Physical Demands:
  • Able to stand on feet for a consecutive 10 hours or less.
  • Able to work in high temperature conditions.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
