Job Description: This position is responsible for complete food production and service at a residential facility. The cook is also responsible for menu planning, food shopping, and cooking for up to 10 adults in a short-term, psychiatric, residential setting.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Location:Exton, PA

Program:Valley Creek Crisis Center, Residential Crisis Intervention Program

Pay Rate:$18+/hour

Job Functions:

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to price food and supplies
  • Applying and maintaining high standards in cleanliness for kitchen and food prep equipment
  • Applying and maintaining high standards for meal production
  • Ability to plan and prepare meals on a quantity basis
  • Knowledge of the proper care and use of modern kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Knowledge and utilization of a wide variety of cooking ingredients
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements:

Experience:Experience as a cook in a food production operation

Education:High School Diploma or GED

Licensure/Certification:None Required

Clearances:Pennsylvania Child Abuse, Criminal and fingerprint-based federal criminal history; Verification that employee is not on any Medicaid/Medicare Exclusion list

Note: At the discretion of the Personnel Officer, additional related experience and/or education may be substituted instead of the requirements specified under Education and Experience
