Position Details:

  • Title: Lead Security Guard
  • Schedule: 1st shift, ~ 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, M-F
  • Location: Gibbstown, NJ (08027)

Position Overview:

The Lead Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our employees and property. This role involves monitoring building entrances and exits, responding to alarms, and providing general surveillance. This position requires the ability to multi-task and exercise good judgment.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the facility and the security of property and assets.
  • Monitors security systems and responds to alarms, reports of issues, or requests for assistance.
  • Perform periodic rounds/inspections to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Uses expertise and discretion to handle/identify non-routine issues.
  • Follows required gate-keeping procedures such as verifying visitor credentials, conducting inspections, or preparing paperwork. Screen visitors using metal detector to prevent security issues.
  • Manage and coordinate duties and schedules of outside contractors.
  • Act as liaison to off-shift guards for general issues.
  • Assist customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Manage the Keri System, including creating ID badges and uploading information to shared drives.
  • Control access by permitting authorized persons to enter the property and monitoring entrances and exits to ensure smooth visitor flow.
  • Ensures that all security events are logged, documented, and reported using standard procedures.
  • Handle confidential information and communication.
  • Monitor for irregular or unusual conditions that may pose security or safety risks, such as wet floors, broken glass, or disputes.
  • Ensure fire, loading, and unloading zones are free from unauthorized parked vehicles.
  • Assist local emergency personnel in the event of emergencies and ensure all matters are properly addressed.
  • Report any suspicious behavior to Management.
  • Provides administrative assistance to personnel and performs light office duties as needed.
  • Perform other security-related functions as required or requested by Management.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience as a Security Guard/Officer or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially when communicating with the public.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to operate radio, telephone equipment, and console monitors (such as CCTV).
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively.
  • Work independently with little or no supervision; must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed.

Desired Skills:
  • 1-2 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemical or food processing
  • Knowledge of Pipefitting and Plumbing
  • Knowledge of pumping, flow, vacuum, pressure
  • Machine Shop, Welding and/or Metal Fabrication
  • Carpentry Skills
  • Knowledge of PLCs

Educations/Certifications:
  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Trade School desirable

  • Complies with all safety regulations; maintains a safe work environment at all times.
  • Adheres to always wearing the proper PPE/Safety equipment.
  • Understands and complies with all written safety, health, and environmental procedures.
  • Attends all required scheduled Health, Safety and Environmental training sessions.
  • Participates in required Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and programs.
  • Perform required administrative functions related to Health, Safety and Environmental functions such as completing forms, checklists, and log sheets.

  • Physical Demands: Regular standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal stooping or kneeling. Major activities include walking, standing, speaking, listening, and observing
  • Work Environment: This position requires working both in an office environment and a manufacturing facility, with moderate levels of noise, heat, dust, dirt, and fumes. The work involves both indoor and outdoor environments with temperature ranges from moderate to cold and heat.
