Bilingual preferred *Special Note: English/Spanish preferred.EXAMPLES OF WORKInterviews/screens applicants for public assistance programs to gather their information aspart of their application.Work at the Front Desk with direct contact with the public to assist them and guide themaccording to their needs.Selects and refers eligible applicants to public assistance or other programs.Records, evaluates applicants and recipient s data to determine initial or continuingeligibility.Prepares regular and special reports as needed.Prepares and assists applicants in completion of routine intake and personnel forms.Interviews and screens clients for program eligibility and schedules appointments withinestablished procedures.Perform clerical duties as assigned by the supervisor.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge and application of the policies, procedures, laws and programs governing theagency.Ability to speak clearly and correctly, and to communicate with others to obtain andverify information concerning eligibility.Analyze and interpret written, numerical, and verbal data from various sources.Be detail oriented and enter data accurately into a computerized system.Navigate through computer screens, and complete and review basic computerdocuments and other forms.Knowledge of basic arithmetic.Prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and other documentation.Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.Be proficient in the use of the computer including exceptional typing skills.Follow written and oral directions and instructions.Plan and organize to ensure work are completed in accordance with regulations relatingto eligibility and timeliness.Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness and organize and maintain filingsystem.BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:It is the policy of the Florida Department of Children and Families that any applicantbeing considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminalhistory check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and, if applicablebe screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S.No applicant may begin employment until the background screening results are received,reviewed for any disqualifying offenses and approved by the Agency.
