Pacific International has been retained by a global packaging solutions manufacturer that is in the process of launching a brand-new greenfield plant in Florida. This position will play a vital role in setting up all material planning for the site from scratch. Despite already being a market leader, the company is experiencing significant growth and building this plant to service new markets.


The Materials Manager will be responsible for overseeing all production planning activities and ensuring coordination with production management.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversees / coordinates / executes schedules and expedites, as required.
  • Links directly with all departments to resolve supply chain problems.
  • Monitors extraordinary circumstances that impede production and advises Plant Manager
  • Works directly with plant personnel to advise them of purchasing & inventory goals
  • Manages the planning & purchase of raw material & production supplies to support production plan
  • Forecasts of materials.
  • Coordinates supplier selection, program/supplier start-ups and ongoing source recommendations
  • Establishes Purchase Order (P.O.) pricing and delivery requirements
  • Ensures compliance with purchasing policies, government, and other legal requirements
  • Manages and supervises up to 10 employees to include scheduler (initially will be the scheduler), purchasing agent, and cycle counting personnel.
  • Coordinates manufacturing work orders with Production Management
  • Maintains accurate pricing and interfaces directly with accounting to resolve supplier/pricing issues.
  • Resolves quality, delivery and pricing issues for assigned commodities
  • Meets with suppliers, both approved and prospective, to initiate “Value-Add” projects as well as supplier improvement programs that will enhance profitability to meet the company's goals and objectives
  • Ensures good working relationships exist with key suppliers
  • Maintains accuracy in the backorder lists and sees that proper reaction to shortage is made on a timely basis and OTC goals. Works with shipping to ensure Receiving and shipments are timely.
  • Manages inventory turns, monitors slow-moving inventory, identifies obsolete inventory, and makes recommendations to Management for disposition and corrective actions.
  • Identifies and manages cost saving projects
  • Establishes and manages accurate standard costs and purchasing information in Syteline on assigned items.
  • Maintains SOX compliance regarding inventory control. Oversees physical inventories at assigned intervals maintaining accounting controls.
  • Budget planning for all material cost.
  • Creates and maintains all bill of materials.
  • Partners with the design teams, product line teams, IBP Process and sales on execution of new products to the customer.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3 or more years of progressive Production Control/Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in an organizational culture of high performance, employee involvement, and continuous improvement and team concepts.
  • Good understanding of capital and expense budgets
  • Excellent understanding of strategic and operational planning
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems.
  • Solid working knowledge of inventory control, production scheduling (MIMI Planning), plant equipment, and plant raw materials.
  • SAP proficient in planning and inventory control.
