Additional Information About the Role

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Mail Services Specialist who will be driving to various Siteman or Washington University locations in the St. Louis Area delivering pharmacy products using a BJC vehicle. Additional duties include posting mail and sorting mail.

*Must have a valid drivers license and the ability to lift between 50 lbs. Utilizes a pallet jack

Hours: M-F 6 am-2:30 pm

Mail Services provides the overall direction, organization, and management of a consolidated mail services operation for the metropolitan BJC HealthCare System facilities with service to all entities system-wide. Responsible for the integration of current decentralized mail operations to improve service levels, reengineer work flow processes and systems and maximize cost effectiveness. Depending on the mail services model implemented may plan, organize, staff, direct and control all personnel and activities associated with mail operations.

Role Purpose

The Mail Services Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the mail center, providing expertise on US Postal Service Mail regulatory requirements to customers across the BJC HealthCare organizations. Customer liaison for design of mail pieces & savings opportunities. Responsible for monitoring, reporting on department metrics & making recommendations for changes as necessary. Maintain current knowledge of mail processing equipment & alternate sites mail procedures to enable them to assist when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides accurate, timely processing of mail by coordinating delivery, pick up & processing of mail, sorting incoming and interoffice mail from the United States Postal Service, hospitals and service organizations..
  • Computer knowledge to search and find information from patient alpha list, physician list and general information, as well as generate departmental reports.
  • Manages cost effective processing of outgoing mail according to USPS regulations. Determines correct rate classification of postage, processes mail & creates the necessary paperwork to accompany the mail.
  • Educates customers on postal regulations, mail piece design, postage savings & mail preparation.
  • Interpret and apply all Department of Transportation & state Laws regarding operation of vehicles & transportation of items while proving delivery/pickup service to all BJC facilities.
