Job Details

Primary Purpose:

The System Administrator will assist in the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. This role includes installing hardware and software, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the overall health of the IT infrastructure. The System Administrator will work under the supervision of senior IT staff and will have opportunities to develop their technical skills in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Basic scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) are a plus.

Experience:

1-2 years of experience in IT support or system administration.

Experience with Windows.

Experience with Linux operating systems, preferred.

Basic understanding of network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).

Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist in monitoring and maintaining servers, networks, and computer systems.

Ensure all systems are running smoothly and efficiently.

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.

Install and configure hardware and software components.

Set up user accounts, permissions, and passwords.

Assist in the deployment of new applications and updates.

Provide first-level support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues.

Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets in a timely manner.

Escalate complex issues to senior staff as necessary.

Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures.

Perform regular backup operations and ensure data integrity.

Support disaster recovery planning and execution.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT systems and processes.

Prepare reports on system performance and incidents.

Stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices.

Participate in training and development opportunities.

Additional Duties:

Any and all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
